Record Store Day 2021 Picks - Jay

Record Store Day 2021 is happening on July 17th, 2021 so we are sharing our favourite vinyl records this week to celebrate.

Jay’s Picks

What is special about vinyl records to you?

I think there is just something cool about having music as a tangible item. Each song is a work of a art, and I think vinyl emphasizes that fact.

What is the most embarrassing record in your collection – that you bought yourself, not one you got as a gift.

I don’t really have anything I’d classify as embarrassing, but the nerdiest record I own is the Star Wars soundtrack. Those compositions bump.

Do you have any complete discographies?

The closest thing I have to a complete discography is Nirvana’s. I have all of their records on vinyl ironically except for Nevermind. I do have a promotional copy of Come As You Are though!

How is your record collection organized? Alphabetical/genres/chaos.

The aliens are coming, and you can give them one album, what one?

Blink-182’s self titled album. My favourite record of all time!

Which audio format is your preferred ?

My favourite audio format is probably cassette because of its portability and unique character, although it’s probably the format I listen to the least. Like many others Spotify is usually the go to these days!

Is there a record you get especially melancholy by, that reminds you of a certain period of your life?

Probably Rose Ave. by You+Me (City and Colour and Pink’s collab album). It was a record that Jill and I really enjoyed when it came out and was actually the first record I ever bought, before I even had a record player!

Which record did you buy last, and which one are you aiming for to be the next?

The last record I bought was Juice Wrld’s Legends Never Die. I’m grateful to own a lot of the records I really enjoy, but now I really want that copy of Nevermind!

Our debut album Tell Your Friends You Love Them comes out October 1st, 2021.

Limited edition vinyl is available to pre-order now on our store
