Record Store Day 2021 Picks - Jill

Record Store Day 2021 is happening on July 17th, 2021 so we are sharing our favourite vinyl records this week to celebrate.

Jill’s Picks

What is special about vinyl records to you?

Vinyls feels like a full package. The cover art truly feels like a tactile piece of art when you can hold it in your hands. Vinyl feels like a physical piece of the experience from an album whatever its essence may be.

What is the most embarrassing record in your collection – that you bought yourself, not one you got as a gift.

I don’t think it’s embarrassing, but just funny. One record store day I bought a used “Spooky Sounding Halloween Story” flexi vinyl made by Kraft so I think it came in a cereal box or with mac and cheese decades ago.

Do you have any complete discographies?

David Bowie’s discography which I won at an auction, and Phoebe Bridgers I pretty much have everything she has ever been on on vinyl.

How is your record collection organized? Alphabetical/genres/chaos.

Alphabetical by artist!

The aliens are coming, and you can give them one album, what one?

Melloncollie and The Infinite Sadness

Which audio format is your preferred ?

Vinyl for sure, but I use digital formats the most.

Is there a record you get especially melancholy by, that reminds you of a certain period of your life?

Anything Modern Baseball, or Waxahatchee’s “Saint Cloud”

Which record did you buy last, and which one are you aiming for to be the next?

My most recent purchases are Indigo De Souza’s “I Love My Mom” and Orion Sun’s “Hold Space For Me.” I know I have the new Lucy Dacus record coming in the mail right now lol and I am so excited about that...

Our debut album Tell Your Friends You Love Them comes out October 1st, 2021.

Limited edition vinyl is available to pre-order now on our store
